St. Tammany's Mosquito Abatement District has dropped its lawsuit against the parish council , bringing an end to a brief legal dispute over a council initiative to save taxpayer dollars.

The parish council started looking into St. Tammany's mosquito-fighting agency this spring, after forming a transparency committee with northshore District Attorney Collin Sims aimed at finding inefficiencies in government and reducing taxes. The council formed the committee amid concern about major gaps in funding for Sims' office, northshore judges and the jail, which face 30% reductions in funding in 2026.

But the review sparked a heated back-and-forth between Sims and Mosquito Abatement District Director Kevin Caillouet.
