Anthony Volpe's tenure with the New York Yankees to this point has not been what many expected him to be. He had tough shoes to fill as many expected him to be the next version of Derek Jeter, and while Volpe has been good, he isn't anywhere near Jeter's level.
The organization isn't ready to give up on him yet, but he is expected to miss some time at the beginning of next season recovering from shoulder surgery. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman isn't guaranteeing he is the starter when he returns.
