DICKINSON — The Dickinson Mavericks had not scored a power-play goal in 17 attempts through the first four games of the regular season. Meanwhile, they hadn’t put the puck in the back of the net in two straight games and were outscored 12-0.

That drought finally ended against the Mandan Braves, where DHS went 2-for-3 on the man-advantage to defeat the Braves 4-2 to pick up their first league win of the season and snap a three-game losing streak.

“It was a gritty win from the girls. They battled their butts off. They did a lot of little things well, and some things we can tighten up for sure but still a huge win for the girls,” DHS head coach Lance Knudson said.
