NESPELEM, Wash. — A double homicide was reported on the Colville Reservation late Thursday night, according to the Colville Business Council.
Officials confirmed the victims were Laura Dick and her son. Dick worked as a clerk for the Colville Tribal Court.
In response to the incident, tribal leaders say the court will operate on a limited basis next week to allow staff time to grieve and adjust following the loss of a colleague.
Chairman Jarred-Michael Erickson of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation acknowledged the deaths in a statement to the community.
