Travelers for the upcoming holidays will get an early gift this week with gas prices that continue to decline.
AAA Arizona reported this week that the average price of gas in the state was $3.20 per gallon, down about 7 cents since last week.
That mirrors a nationwide trend of declining gas prices, where the national average is $2.94 per gallon, down about 5 cents from last week.
That comes as national gasoline demand rose in the past week from 8.32 million barrels a day to 8.45 million barrels, but supply outpaced that, rising from 214.4 million barrels to 220.8 million barrels. Oil’s price per barrel rose, but was still below $60 per barrel.
Around Arizona, average prices were $3.31 a gallon in Phoenix, $3.24 in Flagstaff and $2.93 in Tucson.
