A man whose wife was set to leave him after discovering an affair is accused of fatally shooting a woman with whom he has a son, before attempting to kill himself.

Joseph Raymond Wiggins, 57, of St. Paul, has been charged with second-degree murder in the killing of Amy Doverspike, 55, at her home in Maplewood on Wednesday morning.

The complaint against Wiggins reveals that Wiggins and Doverspike have a son who is currently incarcerated for murder, and that Wiggins was trying to get back together with Doverspike as his current wife was leaving him after finding out about his extra-marital affair.

Doverspike's family and friends and staff at her apartment complex said that she hadn't wanted to get back together with Wiggins.
