The Liverpool legend was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital last week but is now thought to be recovering well and is expected to be home for Christmas.
Rush was rushed to hospital after suffering from breathing difficulties amid the superflu outbreak that is sweeping the country.
A Liverpool spokesperson, as first reported by The Daily Mail , said that the club “thanks all the staff at the hospital for providing the best care possible for our legend and ambassador of the club. Everyone at Liverpool wishes him a speedy recovery.”
Rush is Liverpool’s all-time leading goalscorer with 346, and is now a club ambassador. He enjoyed two spells at the club and was also Wales’ highest ever goalscorer until 2018.
He won five League titles, five League Cups, three FA Cups and two Europe
