TAMA, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa Department of Transportation has placed a “travel not advised” alert for Tama County and its surrounding major roadways. Other roads around the area have been considered completely covered.

Saturday morning has brought heavy snowfall paired with chilling temperatures with wind chills below 0 degrees.

The DOT has reported several accidents across the state since the snow began to fall before sunrise.
