Dick Van Dyke celebrated his 100th birthday on Saturday, with the Tony- and Emmy-winning actor saying in a new interview that a century of life “is not enough.”
Speaking to ABC News , the Mary Poppins star, who last month published his book 100 Rules for Living to 100: An Optimist’s Guide to a Happy Life , offered up some advice about attaining longevity.
“We go to the gym three days a week, [my wife’s] a health nut, and we work out,” Van Dyke said. “That’s good advice for anybody.” Van Dyke added that his gym routine has helped spare him from the ailments many elderly encounter. “I’m so lucky. I don’t have any ache or pain,” he said.
