Delhi-NCR saw a sharp escalation in anti-pollution measures on Saturday after authorities enforced Stage-IV of the Graded Action Response Plan (GRAP), the strictest level of restrictions, as air quality deteriorated to the “severe-plus” category. GRAP-IV is imposed when the Air Quality Index (AQI) crosses 450, indicating a severe-plus pollution level.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s overall AQI stood at 448 at 7 pm on Saturday, prompting authorities to tighten curbs across the region to prevent further deterioration.
