HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WSMV) - A Hopkinsville man is accused of assaulting a woman with a hammer early Saturday morning, according to WKDZ Radio.
The incident happened on North McPherson Avenue.
The Hopkinsville Police Department said Leon Davie, 43, got into a fight with a woman and allegedly struck her in the head with a hammer during the altercation.
Davie then allegedly fled from police on foot when officers arrived at the scene. However, he was quickly captured, WKDZ said.
The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
WKDZ said Davie was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, third-degree fleeing or evading police, alcohol intoxication in a public place and tampering with physical evidence.
