Luke Littler has played down his prospects of claiming the BBC Sports Personality of the Year prize next week and has also not picked bookies' favourite Rory McIlroy when asked for his choice. The darts prodigy kicked off his World Darts Championship title defence with a straightforward 3-0 victory over Darius Labanauskas at Alexandra Palace on Thursday evening.
The teenage star posted an average of 101.54 and hit 64% of his doubles to secure his place in the second round on his first evening back at the iconic north London venue since lifting the world title in January.
