The Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen has disclosed for the first time the devastating impact of her separation from husband Clive that left them both fearing for her survival.

In a fresh interview, Amanda recounts her bleakest period following the couple's decision to end their 22-year marriage. Amanda, who is mother to their nine children, discloses she developed an eating disorder from which she is only now recovering.

Amanda describes the disorder as part of a "cataclysmic" collapse she experienced after parting from Clive and beginning a brief new romance with web designer Rob Davies, 72.

"I just shut down." Amanda tells the Daily Mail. "Physical and mental health are intertwined and anxiety, depression, paranoia, agoraphobia and an eating disorder were all smooshed into one.",
