If you are sending us snowfall reports, here are some good practices to use according to the National Weather Service to get the most accurate measurement possible.
For the most accurate measurements, the NWS recommends using a snowboard, which is a piece of wood, painted white about 16 by 16 inches.
You can also use a spot on a wooden deck about 20 to 30 feet away from the house or a picnic table in an open, unobstructed part of the yard.
