A fire scorched around five acres in the Devore Heights area of San Bernardino County and was threatening structures, fire officials said early Saturday afternoon, before the forward progress of the fire was halted.
The blaze, dubbed the Kenwood fire, was reported around 12:45 p.m. near Kenwood Avenue and the 15 Freeway, according to Watch Duty, a non-profit app that tracks wildfires. The area is near Devore Heights, a mountainous residential community just outside the San Bernardino National Forest.
The flames were spreading at a moderate rate and were threatening structures, Watch Duty reported. It was not immediately clear what the structures were, but there are homes in that community.
The forward progress of the fire was announced around 1:30 p.m.
