ELYRIA, Ohio (WOIO) - Elyria City Schools shared on social media the devastating news of a cherished third grade student who passed away this weekend.

According to Elyria City Schools on Facebook, the student, Brian Correa, passed away following a brief illness.

Brian’s teacher at Elyria’s Hamilton Elementary described him as kind, loving, intelligent and humble.

Brian began his education at the Early Childhood Village in preschool and continued to flourish at Hamilton Elementary School since kindergarten.

The staff at Hamilton are deeply affected by Brian’s loss, Elyria City Schools said in a post.

The Lorain County Crisis Team will be present at Hamilton Elementary on Monday to offer support and comfort to students and staff process their grief.
