The Yankees still hope to bring back free-agent outfielder Cody Bellinger and it may even still be their top offseason priority even though center fielder Trent Grisham passed up free agency to return for one year at $22.025 million.

The Yankees however aren’t overly optimistic that Bellinger will return even if they make a top-of-the-market offer because a bunch of other big-market teams are in the chase . Also, the former MVP may opt to return to the West Coast, which is closer to his Arizona home.

And so, the Yankees added some protection Saturday in case Bellinger isn’t back by re-signing free agent infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario to a one-year, $2.5 million contract.
