The Penguins played an outstanding second period on Saturday.

Their third left a ton to be desired. In fact, it was downright disastrous, Pittsburgh ceding a four-goal lead to the San Jose Sharks and advancing to overtime.

The result was worse, a 6-5 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks at PPG Paints Arena that’s going to sting for a while, an epic collapse for the home team that has struggled with this sort of stuff all season.

John Klingberg ended it with his goal at 2:57 of the extra session, the latest bit of overtime disaster for the Penguins.

San Jose’s comeback started with a power-play goal from Klingberg at 7:33 of the third. It wasn’t a huge deal until William Eklund made it a 5-3 game with his goal at 14:19 of the third.
