Brandon Aiyuk’s 49ers tenure may have come to an unceremonious end.

The San Francisco 49ers have placed the injured wide receiver on the reserve/left squad list, officially ending his season before it even started.

Players are generally placed on this list if they intend to retire or plan to step away from football.

Aiyuk has been recovering from a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus suffered last season, and his placement on the list suggests he has not been around the team or participating in rehab sessions.

In November, the 27-year-old had approximately $27 million in guaranteed money voided on his contract for next year because he had failed to participate in meetings and other team activities.
