Why lice exist and where they actually came from

Human‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ lice have long been a source of everyday confusion, and yet these parasites have been closely and intimately associated with humans for a long time. While their presence is generally accepted, their origin is still quite a mystery to most people outside of the scientific community. Unlike creatures that can be associated with certain habitats, lice are almost exclusively human-bound, so there is very little physical proof of their first appearance.
