PROVIDENCE, R.I. —

At least two people were killed and nine others injured in a shooting Saturday at Brown University .

Shortly after reports of the shooting , the university said a suspect was in custody, but later retracted that statement. As of Saturday night, the shooter is at large.

What we know

All of the victims were students, Brown University President Christina H. Paxson said during a news conference on Saturday night.

The shooting happened just after 4 p.m. at the Barus & Holley building, which houses the School of Engineering and the Physics Department, where students were gathering for their exams.
