PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A woman is behind bars after warrants show she stabbed a man in the head with a kitchen knife.

According to warrants obtained by WITN, 23-year-old Kristen Garciga was arrested Saturday by the Greenville Police Department. Warrants show Garciga stabbed the father of her child in the back of the head with a kitchen knife.

The victim was seriously injured, according to warrants.

Garciga was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury, and misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

She is being held in the Pitt County Detention Center with no bond and has a first court appearance scheduled for Monday.
