MADISON (WKOW) -- Porchlight's Emergency Men's Drop-In Shelter expects 350 guests Saturday night - 100 more than its normal capacity.
Given temperatures are expected to be below zero degrees, staff say anyone who wants to come in is welcome.
"We just welcome the ones that want to come in. We don't want anyone to freeze. We want everyone to be safe and warm so our doors are open 24/7," said Sable Wright, an employee who does intake work at the shelter.
Guests are provided food, clothing, toiletries, a bed, and case managers to assist them with housing, jobs, and other needs. All pass through a security checkpoint upon entry. Lockers are also available.
Wright added that recently, over 355 people a night have been staying at the shelter because of how cold it's been.
