A thick blanket of smog enveloped the national capital on Saturday morning, with the air quality index (AQI) crossing 450 in several areas. This prompted the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to invoke Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in the NCR.
“Keeping in view the prevailing trend of air quality and in an effort to prevent its further deterioration in the region, the CAQM sub-committee on GRAP has decided to invoke actions as envisaged under Stage IV of the extant GRAP – ‘Severe+’ air quality, with immediate effect, in the entire NCR,” read a statement from the CAQM.This is in addition to the actions under Stages I, II and III of GRAP already in force in the NCR, it added.
The curbs under Stage IV include ban on the entry of non-essential trucks and non-BS
