LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Central Kentucky is expected to see more snowfall and single digit temperatures this weekend.
Ginny Ramsey at the Catholic Action Center is working alongside other Lexington groups to make sure folks aren’t left out on the street when temperatures drop below freezing.
“This, not only, is cold and dangerous and bitter, it can be deadly,” Ramsey says.
But there are challenges.
Ramsey said many shelters are stretched thin.
Regardless, “we’re gonna be sure that there is someplace safe for them to go,” Ramsey said.
The low temperatures bring safety concerns.
“A lot of the people who are experiencing homelessness are in vulnerable health. A healthy person can normally get through frostbite. But our folks quite often can’t,” Ramsey said.
