'Can't fault the effort, but we came up a little short' in second-straight road loss to start 2026 season
Another game, another rough loss for the young Calgary Roughnecks.
That’s two straight toughies to start the 2026 National Lacrosse League season, with the latest happening Saturday night in an 11-10 drop to the host Toronto Rock.
So close again but just not enough to find their first victory of the campaign.
“We played hard,” said Roughnecks GM Mike Board from the new home of the Rock — TD Coliseum in Hamilton, Ont. “We competed all over the floor — didn’t quit.
“Can’t fault the effort, but we came up a little short.”
Noah Manning and Riley Loewen each potted three goals for the Roughnecks, while teammates Tyler Pace and Brayden Mayea collected a game-high six assists apiece.
