GRANITE QUARRY — Robinson’s boys won’t be easy to knock off their perch as the kings of South Piedmont Conference basketball.
The Bulldogs won at East Rowan 61-50 on Friday, although it was not as close as the score sounds. Robinson (6-1, 2-0) basically settled things with a 23-5 edge in the opening quarter. East chopped a 28-point deficit down to 11 with a fourth-quarter surge.
“We couldn’t throw it in the ocean in the first quarter,” East head coach Trey Ledbetter said. “To beat a good, pressing team you’ve got to make some shots in transition. We struggled to do that.”
East was able to slow the tempo in the second quarter and was more competitive, but Robinson took a comfortable 41-17
