CLEMSON — Clemson basketball coach Brad Brownell earned his 300th win after the Tigers protected homecourt.
Clemson survived Mercer, winning 70-63 on Dec. 13 at Littlejohn Coliseum. The Tigers (8-3) recovered from a six-point halftime deficit to outscore the Bears (7-3) 37-24 in the second half.
Mercer shot efficiently in the first half, shooting 64%, but the Tigers' defense stifled the Bears. Clemson held Mercer to 34.5% shooting in the second half.
Offensively, Clemson used its size to overwhelm Mercer, scoring 34 points in the paint, including 18 in the second half. The Tigers avoided a home upset loss to a mid-major opponent to earn a Quadrant 3 win.
