GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A UF law student is arguing that the university was not within their rights when they banned him from campus over a controversial social media post.

On Friday, Preston Damsky’s lawyers argued he posed no safety risk to students at UF and asked an appeals judge to undo an order keeping him off campus.

He was trespassed and expelled after saying that quote “jews must be abolished,” referencing an academic article calling to abolish the white race.

He sued the university soon after, arguing that his First Amendment rights were violated.
