New Delhi, Dec 14: Maintaining a healthy gut-liver connection is emerging as a crucial factor in ageing well, according to Dr Farman Ali, a liver transplant surgeon. Speaking to Health Shots, Dr Ali highlighted that the gut and liver work together closely through the gut-liver axis, affecting digestion, immunity, and overall vitality.
“The gut processes nutrients while the liver detoxifies harmful substances. When both organs function well, we enjoy good health, clear thinking, and youthful skin,” said Dr Ali. Chronic gut inflammation can stress the liver, slow metabolism, and even lead to brain fog. Conversely, an unbalanced gut can release toxins into the bloodstream, accelerating cellular ageing and weakening the immune system.
