It is undoubtedly one of Manchester's finest qualities as a region that the city is so easy to get out of.

Don't get me wrong, I adore our bustling, metropolitan centre with its frenetic energy and ever-changing skyline. But sometimes, when you feel in need of a break, you need to leave city life behind in order to feel truly rested.

That's exactly what I was able to do when I checked into The Greenway Hotel and Spa in Shurdington, Cheltenham. A direct train journey away from Manchester Piccadilly - or around two and a half hours by car - the four-star hotel was the perfect setting for a luxury mini-break where the stresses of everyday life feel banished to 130 miles up the motorway.
