The Campbell County School District is still trying to work through a funding shortfall that is holding up the construction of a new transportation facility.
Tuesday night, Dave Bartlett, associate superintendent for instructional support, updated the Campbell County School Board on the ongoing discussions with the state on the new Bus Barn, which will be located on the south end of town at Southern Drive and Enzi Drive. In April, it was revealed that the state had budgeted $12.5 million for the project, which was several million dollars less than what had originally been estimated.
Earlier this year, Bartlett said that designing the Bus Barn to the $12.5 million budget would force the district to cut two to four bays and prevent staff from being able to pressure wash buses.
