A gunman has reportedly opened fire at Bondi Beach with multiple casualties. Local media reports police in Australia are responding to a 'developing incident' at the tourist hotspot in Sydney. ‌

New South Wales Police Force confirmed two people have been taken into custody following the incident but they are still urging people to avoid the area. Dozens of emergency vehicles, including police units and ambulances, have flooded the Bondi area with panicked crowds seen gathering on a nearby street, reports the Mirror . ‌

A spokesperson for Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said: "We are aware of an active security situation in Bondi. We urge people in the vicinity to follow information from NSW Police". ‌
