Funny thing: When established 200-plus years ago, Ohio’s General Assembly – the legislature – was supposed to serve the people. Now, in several spectacular examples of Statehouse arrogance, it appears that more than a few General Assembly members think the people are supposed to serve the legislature.

For one thing, many General Assembly Republicans evidently remain enraged that Ohio’s voters had the nerve in 2023 to guarantee – by a “yes” vote of almost 57% – women’s right to make their own reproductive health decisions, including, if they choose, to obtain an abortion to end a pregnancy. The nerve of those “gals!”
