A shocked local, on the phone to his parents in London, revealed how he hid for cover after realising the sounds he thought were fireworks were actually gunshots

A man was on the phone to his family in the UK when the horror Hanukkah terror attack at Bondi Beach broke out.

Finn, who lives in Sydney by the popular beach, revealed he heard the horror gunshots and rushed to hide in his wardrobe. The man, who did not share his surname, said he had been Facetiming his family back in London on Sunday evening, local time, before he heard the loud bangs. Finn said he initially thought these sounds were fireworks but looked outside of his window and saw the fatal terror attack unfold.
