Sunderland have labelled bitter rivals Newcastle United as 'visitors' rather than their full name at the Stadium of Light (Image: Sky Sports)
Newcastle United supporters have responded with venom after Sunderland refused to call their rivals by their name on the scoreboard at the Stadium of Light for Sunday's Tyne-Wear derby.
Marking the first Premier League meeting between the two historic rivals since 2016, Sunderland simply labelled their opposition as 'visitors'. Previous visitors to the Stadium of Light this season have seen their full name displayed on the scoreboard alongside the hosts' name.
"It's rowdy. I mean, we've got some of these fans in boxes behind us and to be fair, it's the rowdiest, most boisterous prawn sandwich brigade I've ever seen in my life! Shouting, scream
