The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) stepping up to support sports is hailed as a transformative move for student athletes. Cricketer Sai Sudharsan celebrated this at the 58th Inter IIT Sports Meet 2025's inauguration at IIT Madras.

The week-long event, co-hosted with IIT Hyderabad and IIT Tirupati, features 3,800 students competing in 12 sports disciplines. Such events provide invaluable exposure to students.

IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti highlighted the introduction of advanced sports programs and facilities. The institution is also incubating startups in sports and analytics, anticipating a surge in sports-related innovation.
