WestJet is taking a step back on its recent cabin change plans—at least for now. After complaints from passengers and employees, the Calgary-based airline has paused its plan to roll out non-reclining economy seats across much of its Boeing 737 fleet.

Earlier this year, WestJet began charging for comfort features that were once standard in economy class, including removing the recline function from many seats in favor of a so-called "fixed recline" design. That move drew increased scrutiny in September, when the airline announced it would add an extra row of seats and divide cabins into multiple pricing tiers.
