GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — A Grand Haven Area Public Schools principal has died, the district announced in a letter to parents Sunday.
Mike Shelton, Principal at White Pines Intermediate School, passed away surrounded by loved ones, Superintendent Kristin Perkowski said.
Shelton was a long-serving and deeply respected educator, Perskowski said. He will be remembered by his "warm spirit and positive presence."
"His impact extended far beyond his role at White Pines, and this loss will be felt across our school district and the greater Grand Haven community," she said.
The district featured Shelton in a post on National Principals Day in 2024. In it, Shelton said his favorite part of the job was interacting with the kids and watching them grow from elementary students to middle school students
