Whitley, Co., Ky. (WKYT) - A death investigation is underway in Whitley County, in connection with a murder in Berea Saturday night, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

Roddy Harrison, Mayor of Williamsburg, says the Williamsburg Police Department pulled over a murder suspect around exit 11.

The Madison County Coroner says 77-year-old Margie Berry was killed at a home on Leslie Drive in Berea.

Harrison says there is no immediate danger to the public and the situation is under control.

Both the Williamsburg and the Kentucky State Police are on the scene and processing the scene.

Police say the northbound lane is shut down. Southbound has reopened.

The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department asks people to avoid the area.
