Diablo 4 unveiled the expansion Lord of Hatred at The Game Awards 2025, and despite the hype, one detail isn't adding up. For the most part, Lord of Hatred 's announcement is going over well, successfully cutting through the general malaise that often surrounds the Diablo 4 community. The price of the expansion, however, has been subject to more criticism.

To set the record straight, Lord of Hatred isn't $60, and the backlash that surrounded this initial point of confusion can be safely shelved. The $40 price point still isn't exceptionally attractive, but it also isn't anything especially new. The problem, however, comes from the upgrade path, which seemingly punishes those who recently invested in Diablo 4 's other content.
