KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Chiefs’ postseason hopes ended in heartbreak Sunday, in more ways than one.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes left late in the fourth quarter after injuring his left knee. He needed help getting to the locker room.
Head coach Andy Reid told reporters after the game that Mahomes will undergo an MRI on Sunday or Monday to determine the extent of the damage. “It didn’t look good,” Reid said. “I mean, you guys saw it.”
The Chargers went on to intercept backup QB Gardner Minshew to hold on and beat the Chiefs 16-13. Combined with the Chiefs’ loss, the Texans, Bills and Jaguars all won today – mathematically eliminating Kansas City from the postseason.
The Chiefs held the NFL’s longest active postseason streak entering the day at 10 years.
