CHICAGO, I.L. — Investigators say a woman from Waxhaw, North Carolina died after she got entangled in a conveyer belt at the Chicago O’Hare Airport.

The woman has been identified as 57-year-old Virginia Vinton. Investigators say they received a call at the airport on Thursday, August 8th around 7:45am due to a woman being pinned in machinery at the Terminal 5 baggage area.

Vinton was pronounced dead at the scene, according to first responders.

Officials say Vinton was caught on video going into an employee’s only restricted area around 2:30am. Her body was not found until several hours later, according to reports.

Police say Vinton was apparently at the airport overnight but they are not sure how she was able to get into an employee’s only area of the airport.
