After a weak start to the monsoon, the chance for rain showers increases over Phoenix later in the week.
As rain chances go up, temperatures will go down, with highs barely reaching 100 degrees later in the week.
Phoenix could see some monsoon activity later this week, with rain chances climbing to around 40 to 50% by July 16 into July 17. But most of the action will stay in higher terrain areas, according to the National Weather Service in Phoenix.
“The best chances will be Wednesday night into Thursday for the Phoenix area,” said Alicia Ryan, a weather service meteorologist in Phoenix. “Closer to the higher terrains, it’ll be in the 60 to 80% chances in Eastern Arizona.”
