Plants can talk to animals , boffins have found. Animals react to plant sounds suggesting an invisible eco-system exists between them.
Researchers found female moths refused to lay their eggs on tomato plants if they made noises associated with distress indicating they may be unhealthy.
Two years ago the same team from Tel Aviv University in Israel found plants scream when they are distressed. The sounds are outside the range of human hearing but can be picked up by many insects, bats and some mammals.
