As wildfires continue to tear through northern Saskatchewan, insurance companies are starting to feel the heat as claims start to roll.

"Fire season runs from April until September. We know that there's going to be fires there,"said Emily Proulx, branch manager for Hub International in Prince Albert.

While there are wildfires each year, they often happen further north and in less populated areas, Proulx said. This year the fires were much closer to populated areas her agency services.

Proulx said she has noticed an uptick in claims made across the province from areas like Denare Beach, La Ronge and Flin Flon.
