BOISE, Idaho — Just two days before Bryan Kohberger's sentencing hearing , President Donald Trump weighed in on the plea deal Kohberger took earlier this month.

In a statement published to his Truth Social account, Trump said in part that before Kohberger is sentenced, he hopes the judge makes Kohberger explain his motive behind the murders.

"There are no explanations, there is no NOTHING," Trump said in part. "People were shocked that he was able to plea bargain, but the Judge should make him explain what happened."

Just last week, Judge Steven Hippler lifted a sweeping gag order on Kohberger’s quadruple murder case.
