Most of the day has been very nice, with just a mixture of sun and clouds. However, we are expecting a more active weather pattern this evening and overnight.
A warm front is lifting to the north this evening, which will allow for isolated to scattered storms develop. Some storms this evening could be on the stronger side, with gusty winds and hail. The threat is very low for a tornado, but a brief and weak spin-up tornado can't be ruled out.
Later tonight, we will track more widespread showers and thunderstorms. A line of storms will move into the mountains around midnight to 1 am, before pressing towards the Charlotte metro around 3-4 am. The overnight storms will likely produce gusty winds and hail across the mountains once they arrive, but
