WILDWOOD — Over 125 families and hundreds of supporters gathered at the Wildwoods Convention Center on Friday to honor veterans who have died.
Participants lined the Boardwalk, where casket flags were unfurled in a ceremony to honor loved ones. They then held up in a chain of American flags in remembrance.
“It’s our honor to bring Veteran families together to recognize the lives, service, and sacrifice of their loved ones,” said Louis M. Belasco, executive director of the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement & Development Authority, in a news release. “We’re excited to kick off an unforgettable summer season, but we’re especially honored to host the Flags of Liberty event.”
The event was hosted by the Greater Wildwoods Elks #1896 Veterans Committee and the GWTIDA.
