Boulder police officers were responding to an attack reported on the Pearl Street Mall on Sunday afternoon near the Boulder County Courthouse, according to the department.

Several people were injured in the attack, which happened near the intersection of Pearl and 13th streets in downtown Boulder, the police department said on social media.

Police asked the public to avoid the area.

Information on the number of victims and the extent of their injuries was not immediately available.
